Live With Wonder – Canvas Corp

Hello lovelies, Christmas is coming and before you know, it´s 2017!!! And speaking of 2017, have you already made thoughts about what you are going to do next year? Set goals? I haven´t :). I am just going to wait and see what the New Year has planned for me… And thus I created this art journal spread:

Universe Art Journal spread - Sanna Lippert

And this is what I used to create the galaxy/universe type of background:

There is lots of Tattered Angels spray inks (Chalkboard, Glimmer Mist and Simply Sheer) as well as some Decor&DIY paint in there. A stamp set, a white gel pen and a black marker. Other than that I used old book sheets and a vintage typewriter.   Universe Art Journal spread - Sanna Lippert

I am sure you have seen lots of space/night sky backgrounds popping up on social media and created in a variety of ways. Don’t they just look good? I love them! So I have been wanting to create that kind of background myself for a while. But instead of grabbing stamp inks, I went for my favorite product, Tattered Angels spray inks. And they worked so well in my art journal. I combined Glimmer Mists, Chalkboard Mists and Simply Sheer products and believe me, the shimmer and glimmer is just gorgeous. It makes me really feel like I am somewhere in outer space when looking at it – even if I say so myself. The creating process is really simple to do.

The word “live” is hand written and fussy cut. The other words/sentiments are either stamped or written with my old typewriter. Universe Art Journal spread - Sanna Lippert

Just look at that gorgeous shimmer and shine on the page!! It is truly amazing IRL!!!Universe Art Journal spread - Sanna Lippert Universe Art Journal spread - Sanna Lippert

So I haven´t really made any New Year´s promises for 2017 and I am not going to. I am just going to live the year as best as I can and in the end of next year I will see, where it took me :).

There is also a short video up over at my YouTube channel,  on how I created the galaxy background with the spray inks. Hope you like it!

Bella BLVD & Canvas Corp Brands BLOG HOP – I love you

bella boulevard hop banner 4Hello lovelies and welcome to the Bella BLVD and Canvas Corp Brands Team Up week!! Today I´d like to share my second design team-up project with you – a bright and happy layout created with the Sweet Sweet Spring papers and Tattered Angels spray inks:

Sanna LippertAs a starting point I took a piece of Ken Oliver Water Media Paper, and using a pencil drew the areas onto the paper where my photos will later be. I then took a water tank paint brush and used the Tutti Frutti tone from the Candendar Mist Kit (English Garden) to paint some hearts onto the background (for supplies, see links on the end of this post).

Sanna LippertAfter drawing the hearts I used the Iris Baseboard tone from the same Calendar Kit and added purple droplets onto the background around the photos.

Sanna LippertNext I used the Olive Wine Glimmer Mist from the same calendar kit and drew green flowers with a paint brush onto the background.

Sanna LippertI wanted to add soem stamping around the photos, so I took a 7gypsies stamp and a turquoise marker to create blue stamped images.

Sanna LippertFinally I also used the Ivory Baseboard tone from the Calendar Kit to create white droplets here and there for additional detail.

Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertThen I added some yellow and pink spray ink droplets onto the background (Summer Glow, Tea Cup & Rosey from Tattered Angels). I also colored the Bella BLVD Chipboard Scripts with the kit colors and added some faux stitching with a white gel pen.

I then cut the water media paper into a right size and several different paper strips on the sides of the layout from the Sweet Sweet Spring collection.

Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna LippertFinally I outlined some of the papers and the red hearts with a black pen, added some white hightlights here and there and stamped a date next to the photos. And I could not leave my favorite product, the black Glimmer Glaze unused, so in the end I added just a few droplets fo black here and there for additional contrast.

This is how the fnished layout looks like:

Fill the Cup Mixed Media Gift Box – Canvas Corp Brands

Do you have an old cigar box, gift box or wooden box at home that is ready to be altered? I used Tattered Angels Decor & DIY Paint on my box and it is the prefect paint for the job when you need to a finish surfaces, slick surface, plastic or even glass.  This paint is similar to the Milk and Chalk Furniture paints on the market, but it levels to a really smooth finish. It is a fab product to work with and it does not require any sanding, priming or a top coat.  Just clean and dry the surface and apply one to two coats and the box is transformed.
There are 28 colors to choose from and you can mix and match them to make your own colors.  The paint is also water-soluble and odor free. Here is the finished altered box and in the following you will find the photo step-by-step to it. Hope you like it!
SONY DSCI made this box to go as an addition to a present for a coffee lover.  So in a way it´s part of the present. I altered an old wooden box to match the present theme and then filled it with coffee, tea and hot chocolate. It can later be used to hold a selection of teas, coffee or hot chocolate in a kitchen or coffee bar. This project is very easy to create with the Tattered Angels paints and the Canvas Corp Beans and Bags Collection.
Materials Used:
Tools Used: Paint brush, Craft sheet, Varnish and glue matt (or Matte Medium), Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Scissors, 3D foam, Box for misting.
Step 1:  First take a 12×12 inch ivory cardstock paper, cut it in 6×6 inch strips and run thru a die cutting machine using various sized square die cut forms to cut 5 pieces. The largest piece measures 5×5 inch (the dies are by Elizabeth Craft Designs).
SONY DSCStep 2:  Next choose suitable spray ink tones to color the ivory paper pieces. I used Tattered Angels Boardwalk, Stone and Cardboard. Alternate the sizes with brown and grey neutral tones, so you can layer them onto the box.  Let dry.  The top piece is cut from the Beans & Bags patterned paper piece.
SONY DSC The Cardstock paper will pick up the beautiful tones of the mist paint and no two are alike.SONY DSCStep 3:  Next take the wooden box and paint it with a layer of Décor & DIY paint. I used the Sable. This is a fabulous paint, as it does not require any sanding on the base coat  before painting. And it has gorgeous coverage!
SONY DSCIt covers the bold orange original tone after only one layer!
SONY DSCStep 4:  Tattered Angels mists are great for tinting fabric, ribbon and lace.  They are not washable, but they are perfect for mixed media and altered art project where you do not plan to wash them.  With the same spray ink tones mist the lace next. I misted in all three tones to get a more interesting end result.  You can also use ribbon during this step.
SONY DSCStep 5:  Layer your papers, burlap and lace one at a time turing them to show off the different neural colors and textures.   I used some brown burlap and the next sized misted piece of paper. I went on layering misted paper pieces and ribbon/lace over each other until I was left with the smallest piece of patterned paper. I adhered it on top.  Using a fabric or mixed media glue will work best when adhering to multiple surfaces.
SONY DSCLayer the grays over the browns to give a nice contrast.
SONY DSCStep 6:  Finally, add a relatively thick layer of varnish or decoupage medium on top it all and let air dry overnight. Before leaving it to dry, apply some Distress Glitter onto the wet surface and add some copper toned micro-beads onto the coffee beans and to the cup to simulate steam. Let dry. I added the varnish to make the paper and ribbon surface more robust. This way it will not get damaged so easily. I hope you have enjoyed this little present packaging idea.
SONY DSCWhen making a creative home decor craft piece that you plan to use everyday or give as a gift to be used on daily basis, it is always a good idea to use supplies that will withstand the wear and tear.  Tattered Angels Decor & DIY paint is durable and can even be used for outdoor projects.  Applying a top coat, varnish, decoupage or even enamel to the completed box top is another way to ensure that the beauty of the project will withstand everyday life.
Sanna LippertSo next time you are garage sale shopping, cleaning out the basement or find unique boxes at an antique shop grab a few and repurpose them into gift boxes.  Keep in mind you can leave some of the outside expensed if the labels or color are intriguing to you.

Now you have a great idea for that coffee, tea or hot chocolate lover in your life – so whip up a birthday, get well or just say hi gift and fill it with your favorite goodies.

Happy creating!!!

Misted Christmas cards – Canvas Corp Brands

Hello there everyone!! The past weeks and days have been absolutely crazy at work – I have had absolutely no proper time to prepare Christmas at home, so to all friends, loved ones and family members: I am sorry if your Christmas cards didn´t arrive in time this year. I have been chasing my tail the past weeks and just didn´t find the time to send them on their way early enough. And as you are reading this, it might be, that I am still at work…

And since time is a luxury at the moment, I have had to come up with fast and easy to do ideas for Christmas cards for this season. This set is one of those :-). Very fast and very easy to do and still lovely to look at (at least in my opinion :-)!!).

Sanna Lippert So assuming you don´t have any Christmas/Holiday themed papers and accessories in your stash (haha, I know, but assuming you would not have :-)…), how could you create Xmas themed cards without those papers? Easy! Take a piece of white paper and a water resistant pen. Draw some Christmas presents onto that piece of paper.

Sanna Lippert Next go along and use a water tank paint brush for coloring those drawn images. I used various Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist tones for coloring. They even add a slight shine and sparckle to the presents!! When dry, fussy cut the images. And if you are talented in drawing, you can do Christmas trees, Santa´s and pretty much anything. And the you could color them with markers/pens/paint/watercolors/spray inks etc. Anything you have already!

Sanna Lippert Then add a piece of misted paper to the card base – I misted these pieces with Tattered Angels mists. And finally add a stamped sentiment. The stamp set is by STAMPlorations, by the way.

Sanna Lippert Finally just decorate and adhere the presents onto the card using 3D foam and/or a paper glue. The foam will add a little more dimension and interest. For decorating I just used some shabby chic embossing enamel. Not much more you need. You can go on adding bits and pieces depending on what you have at home. I punched a few snowflakes from a piece of white paper for a fun detail. This is how the finished card looks like. And everything from my “regular, not Christmas” art stash :).

Sanna Lippert For the next card I´ve used similar ideas, but added just a few bits of Christmas themed papers. I first misted a piece of paper with green Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels, then added some punched snowflakes and finally decorated with red burlap and some patterned paper from the Jolly Christmas mix and match paper pad by Canvas Corp. You really don´t need much paper for this card, so the paper pad will go a looong way if you use it this way.

Sanna Lippert For the last card I just misted the background with Glimmer Mist and fussy cut a piece of glitter paper to go under the house row chipboard piece (by Wycinanka). Then I just added a sentiment – also to be found in the Jolly Christmas paper pad by Canvas Corp. I also again added some embossing enamel onto the sky. It should give a feeling of snowfall.

Sanna Lippert Here are a few close-up photos of my finished cards!

Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Sanna Lippert Hope you like the ideas and get inspired to try and create Christmas cards with what you already have in your stash. I just love using spray inks and it makes it so easy to create bright and happy Christmas cards with them. Have a great, creative day, lovelies!!!

Bright and Jolly Christmas cards – Canvas Corp Brands

Happy Sunday, lovelies!! How about another set of Christmas cards today? For this set of six I again used the fun Jolly Christmas Mix and Match paper pad by Canvas Corp Brands. Here you can see the finished cards:

Sanna LippertThe All Wrapped Up Reverse paper was just screaming for some coloring :). So I colored. I used blue, red and green Glimmer Mist tones and a water tank paint brush for coloring. Then I added some green and red burlap on top with a stamped, fussy cut sentiment.

Sanna LippertSanna LippertFor decoration I just added a few felt ornaments and/or some chipboard buttons from my older stash. The stamps I used are again by STAMPlorations.

Sanna LippertSanna LippertSanna LippertI really like this set very much – it is fun, playful and bright even though there is quite a lot of black on in there too. This was the collection my handmade cards this year. I hope you have enjoyed reading thru all these posts. Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy Holiday Season!!!

Happy crafting,
