Spring colored cards with stencils and Nuvo Mousse – STAMPlorations

Hi there, everyone! How ready are you for spring? I know I am more than ready (while I am writing this, snow keeps falling outside my window) and cannot wait for tulips, sunshine and nicer weather! For that reason, I made some happy colored cards with stencils and Nuvo Mousse for this month´s STAMPlorations Mixed Media tutorial.

Here are the steps:
First take a piece of watercolor paper or thicker drawing paper a Nuvo Mousse Citrus Green tone, a blender brush and a stencil of your choice. I used the Flowers 2 stencil on these cards.
Now grab some mousse (a fairly small amount is enough) from the jar with the brush and with a circular motion, apply it onto the paper.Next take a second tone of Nuvo Mousse of your choice (I used Pacific Teal) and place the stencil on top of the green toned surface (dries really quicly, by the way). Again apply the mousse onto the paper thru the stencil using the brush. If you want to more dimensional look, apply with a palette knife. For a second  version of the same technique, pick three matching colors of Nuvo Mousse (I used Pink Flambé, Persian Red and Burnished Bronze) and apply them from a lighter tone towards a darker tone to create an ombré look onto the background. Again apply in circular motion with the brush. After the surface is done, place the Flowers 2 stencil on top and apply white texture paste thru the stencil with a palette knife onto the surface. Let dry. This creates nice texture and a beautiful contrast onto the card background.Next apply some green and blue mousse, blending them together randomly, onto the cardstock piece and stamp flowers (I used the Buttercups & Butterflies stamp set) with a waterproof ink onto that area. Then fussy cut the flowers. Repeat the same stemps and create pink flowers with the pink mousse and the same stamp.Fussy cut the flowers. Create a stamped sentiment banner with the Fond Expressions 2 stamp set stamps and arrange all pieces onto a white card base. Finally, decorate the flower centers with Nuvo Glitter Drops to add some additonal shine and dimension. Here is how the finished cards look like:The Nuvo Mousse has a wax like, metallic look and feel to it when it´s dry, so it creates really beautiful shimmery backgrounds to these cards and can be used with stencils in so many ways.
I hope you enjoyed this spring card tutorial and get your stencils out and play some yourself!!! Have a great week everyone and

happy stenciling!

March STAMPlorations challenge reveal

Hi there, while STAMPlorations is taking a short break from the regular challenges until beginning of May, there will only be one big monthly challenge over at their blog every month. The lovely owner of STAMPlorations, Shery, welcomed an addition to her family in December and while she is getting settled with baby Winter and planning new product and reveals, a little break is urgently needed. So therefore there will be only one monthly challenge at the blog during that time. The usual challenges will return in May again. So time to reveal this months challenge:

The theme you are asked to create upon this month is „All about Spring and Faith„. And here is my take for that challenge:
I used the Luggage Tag Nesting dies and the Pink Paislee Moonstruck papers for the tag. This time die cutting both the big and the smaller tag from the patterned papers. I then took another sheet of those papers and stamped flowers with the Buttercups and Butterflies clear stamp and fussy cut the images. For additional decoration I added some Pink Poodle Glitter Glue into the middle of the flowers and some pink glitter glue. On the smaller tag there is a wood veneer piece which I colored with a red Glimmer Mist and then added a Pink Paislee (my older stash) rub-on as a fun detail. The tag is finished off with twine and ribbon.

I hope you find some time to play along with us at this months challenge! You can create any type of project!

Here are the simple rules for the challenge:
