Be the game changer – STAMPlorations challenge

Hello there – it´s time to share the STAMPlorations Mixed Media November challenge reveal post with you today. For this months post I´ve created a set of ATC´s.

Here they are:

When I started creating these artist trading cards, a quote kept coming to my mind all the time. So I named this set after that quote: „Don´t judge a book by it´s cover“. See the look of these ATCs? They are supposed to remind one of a book cover :-D.

At least that was what I was aiming for when creating these. I´ve first adhered patterned paper onto the ATC base, then applied white and red Distress Paint thru the Bubbles Mini stencil onto the paper. After that I added black Glimmer Glaze droplets and outlined the pieces with a back pen (faux stitching).

Then I added a piece of corrugated cardstock and green burlap with a piece of twine. These are supposed to create a book spine look. finally I added some silver thread, buttons and a stamped sentiment which I fussy cut and adhered to the base with 3D foam.  That´s it! I hope you get inspired to try out some mixed media yourself and join in on this months challenge! Here you will find all the details on how to play along and what to create! Just remember that almost anything goes, except a card & that you are asked to use at least one stencil on your project. Now hop over to the STAMPlorations blog to see what my DT colleagues have created for this months reveal.

Happy crafting,

April showers ATC set – STAMPlorations

Hello lovelies, it is again time for another Mixed Media challenge!!! New month always means new challenge, so here goes:

My take for this months reveal is a set of Artist Trading Cards. The theme I went with is April showers :)… very suitable, eh?

Here is what I did:
First take a piece of dark blue cardstock and but into the right (ATC) size. The take a piece of leftover, misted, stenciled paper (my piece is from this project) and some wood veneer clouds.

Punch flowers from the leftover music note paper with a flower punch (or use a die cut die).

Take a raindrop stencil and draw along the raindrops with a white gel pen onto the background.

Remove stencil and add some additional effects with the pen for a more interesting look.

Embellish! Use pieces of ribbon/burlap, the wood veneer pieces and the punched flowers to decorate the ATCs. Add red liquid pearl dots into the middle of the flowers for dimension.

Take a piece of old paper and add handwritten sentiments to the ATCs. Outline along the edges and glue on place. That´s it. Very easy to do. Here is the finished set:

Now is again your turn to get started! Hope you will find the time to play along and join in on the April challenge with us! Remember, anything mixed media, but cards, is allowed. Use at least one stencil (any brand) and follow the linky rules. That´s it! And you can again win some STAMPloration product goodness!!! Distress Glitter ATC set – STAMPlorations

Hello there lovelies, another Stencil Sunday is here!! I hope you are enjoying the inspiration delivered by us STAMPlorations girls :). Every Sunday either all or part of the team share an inspirational project created using at least one STAMPlorations stencil. Today is my turn again and here is what I did:

This is how I created the ATCs. My starting point was a piece of plain white cardstock – everything in color is added details :).

Step 1: I cut the plain white cardstock into ATC sized pieces (2 1⁄2 by 3 1⁄2 inches (64 mm × 89 mm)) and added green and blue spray ink onto the background. Next I used a heat gun for drying the ink.

Step 2: Then I place a misted piece under the ARTplorations Square City stencil and adhered the stencil onto the working surface with washi tape. That keeps the pieces from moving around. Next I applied a layer of transparent texture paste thru the stencil with a palette knife onto the surface.

Step 3: For the first ATC I then poured loose Distress Glitter onto the wet texture paste surface and dabbed the residue off with my finger. I let the piece air dry. Using the glitter this way it will stick to the paste when dry and stay shiny.

Step 4: For the next two pieces I mixed the transparent texture paste and the Distress Glitter with a palette knife together and first then applied the paste onto the tag like explained on Step 2. When you use the Distress Glitter this way, it will not result in a soft and shiny surface. It is more a grainy texture with color than a shine surface. If you would use a regular glitter, the result would still stay shiny when dry. That is the difference between Distress and regular Glitter and this technique.

Step 5: I took a piece of patterned paper and a STAMPlorations Trendy Feathers 2 clear stamp set and stamped feathers onto the paper with black ink.

Step 6: Next I took a STAMPlorations Fond Expressions 2 clear stamp set and stamped a sentiment onto a piece of vanilla cardstock. I then fussy cut the stamped sentiments.

Step 7: Now all I needed to do was to decorate the ATC background. I adhered the feather, some pink yarn, a button and the sentiment onto the tag. You cannot see it here, but I also added some white ink splatters in the end for additional detail. Those can be seen on the finished ATC´s.

Hope you have enjoyed today´s Stencil Sunday inspiration by the design team girls!!! Remember you can also join in the fun with us by submitting your mixed media stencil project (any brand goes!!!) to the monthly challenge!!! Just remember, NO CARDS allowed :). For details, go HERE :).

I for myself am submitting this project to the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog´s: Bit O´ Green challenge.
