Hello everybody! It´s so good to be back after the STAMPlorations summer break sharing new inspiration and challenges! So without further ado, it´s time for the Mixed Media Challenge reveal!!
I hope you are as excited about the summer break ending and cannot wait to get started playing along with the various challenges over at the STAMPlorations blog. Here is my take for the October mixed media challenge reveal – a set of Artist Trading Coins:
I really like how they turned out – them being my very first ones of this type ever – and now as a bonus, some steps on what I did: Step 1: Die cut 2,5 inch sized circles with a die cutting machine / or a punch. I used a pink misted paper as my starting point. Then place a stencil (I used “Dot´s ´n Beans”) onto the circles and apply three tones of red and pink Distress Ink thru the stencil. Next outline some of the patterns with the purple glitter pen (thank you, Suomen Taidetarvike – I love these pens!!!).
Step 2: Take older sticker sheets out and pick suitable ones to decorate the coins. I used old flower stickers from Basic Grey and adhered them randomly and only partially on one side of the coin. This adds texture and interest without being too precise and dominant. I also kept to a color sheme to keep the overall look more monochromatic.
Step 3: Finally, add a stamped sentiment onto each coin. I used the “Noteworthy” stamp set with the Misti stamping tool and black ink. This way, even though the surface isn´t even, I get a perfect stamp image every time! Next outline with faux stitching using a black gel pen and add detail to the flower stickers with a white gel pen. Finish off with Nuvo Glitter Drops. That´s it!
