Waste no time altered cigar tin

Hello everyone! Today I´d like to share a project I created a while ago, while still on the Nifty Pixel Design Team. I used the Adrift digi collection papers on this altered piece. The inspirational words are from the Fresh Start digi collection.

Here is what I did:

I started by applying a layer of white primer onto the metal tin and let that layer dry properly.

Next I painted the tin with layer of Tattered Angels Azure toned Decor&DIY paint and after that I applied thin layer of Viva Decor Crackle Medium on top at let the layers dry over night.

After that I printed some digi sentiments from the Fresh Start collection onto thick white paper and also printed the Adift papers with my A3 color printer. Then I just fussy cut the sentiments and the papers into right size and adhered them with a strong paper glue onto the tin.
I had a relatively thick cord in my stash that perfectly matched the paper style so I adhered that around the edges inside the tin, again using a strong paper glue.
Next I folded and adhered a piece of golden ribbon on top of the paper and assemblied the sentiments on top of the ribbon piece. Finally I decorated this side of the tin with a small button and some metal pieces. I wiped some Azure paint on top of the metal piece to give it a more worn look.

The other side of the tin got decorated with the same thick cord along the edges, a piece of lace (under the key), a red button and a rusty key. Finally, I just adhered an inspirational sentiment on top of the key. Since I really like to add some paint splatters onto my art pieces, I could not leave the background as it was, but had to add some white and black paint splatters here and there on both sides.

This is what my finished, altered, hybrid, cigar tin looks like. It now decorates our home. I really enjoy the fact that I can make my own home deco objects and add little DIY art pieces across our house for everyone to see. And digi/hybrid designs work on altered objects as well as traditional elements do.

Nikolo – The Nifty Pixel

Hello lovelies!!! It is again time for another hybrid layout tutorial with The Nifty Pixel digi kits turned into hybrid and then into a paper layout :-). Sounds complicated, but it isn´t!!! Just print the digi desings with your home color printer and use them like you would use regular scrapbook papers!!! Easy, right?

For this months hybrid tutorial I created a video for a change! I really, really adore this paper kit. It is actually a maritime themed kit called ADRIFT, but I´ve used it for a Christmas themed page – works for me!!!  Here is the finished page:

I love lightbulbs and there are some bits and pieces on the page that I grabbed from the Happy Home collection. The clock and the lightbulb are actually from this vellum piece set:

Happy Home, the Nifty PixelThey work really well together with the ADRIFT collection. Well, actually every single kit works together with each other. The are always some bits and pieces you can combine together!!! And now for the tutorial, here is the video, hope you like it!!!

Here is a peek on the complete collection. Isn´t it pretty?

ADRIFT, THE NIFTY PIXELThe kit is bursting with gorgeous seashore themed bits and pieces and the papers are just a dream!!! I hightly recommend you grab yourself this kit as long as it is available!!! You will not regret it! I even created a small altered display piece with this kit for my studio (will share that later). I can see myself using this kit again and again also in the future.

So I promised you another project with this kit and that will follow very soon. This and the next project will also be my very last ones for The Nifty Pixel design team. I will for sure be using the kits also in my later work here and there, but not as a design team member anymore. Having been on the team for three years and some, it is time to give someone new a chance! So this will actually be my farewell project as a design team member. It´s been an amazing three years on the team!! I´ve really enjoyed every second of it and would like to thank Em for having me in the team so long. I will Keep on Stalking Em, the team girls and The Nifty Pixel Website in the future thru social media. Thank you Em for everything! It has been an amazing time and I´ve learned so much about hybrid!!!

Happy hybrid crafting,
xxx, Sanna
