Hello lovelies, it is again time to share the monthly Die Cut Design Team challenge over at Elizabeth Craft Designs blog. This month´s theme is “Gift Giving“. My lavendar has been growing very nicely in the garden this year, so I gathered quite an amount and dried them to use later.
My boys always bring me all kinds of “junk” and say: “Mum, I saved this for you as I think you might want to use it for something”. Mostly I do. These little bottles are from the “saved junk” section too. So I combined the two things – the lavendar from my garden and the bottles. They make perfect little gifts, when repurposed and altered a little bit. Here is what I did:
I had washed the bottles in the dishwasher, then adhered a piece of Soft Finish Cardstock onto a piece of Clear Double Sided Adhesive and die cut the Leaf Pocket piece from it. Next I measured how high the piece had to be to cover the open area and fussy cut the piece into a right size. One Leaf Pocket die cut piece is enough to decorate two small bottles.
I then adhered the leaf pattern onto the bottles. Next I added some clear double sided adhesive tape onto the top and bottom parts of the leaf pattern and then covered the adhesive with a grey twine. That way both bottom and the top look finished and pleasing to the eye.
After this I filled the bottles with small, dried lavendar flowers and took a bottle cap/top to close them. I reused the caps from old wine bottles. Finally I added some “Bunch of Flowers 4” pieces that I die cut from Soft Finish Cardstock to the bottles as an additional decorational piece. I used the metal tool set to mold the flowers and placed them on top of each other to create a more dimentional look. A little half pearl creates the center of the flower. Finally I took the leftover, negative piece, of the flowers and created a card around it.
The card is very tiny, but it works perfectly with the small bottle size. I layered the negative flower die cut piece on top of a piece of moss bluegreen burlap. That matches the lavendar color perfectly! For decoration I used the same half pearls as on the flower centers and added some faux stitching along the edges and finished the card off with a stamped sentiment. That´s it!
This present is already on it´s way to it´s new owner :). I hope she likes it and enjoys the lavendar scent when she removes the caps.
